We are searching for a smart and proactive Public Affairs & Communications Senior Associate. This individual will play a crucial role supporting the public affairs and corporate social responsibility team while delivering on company objectives. Functioning as a supporting member of DraftKings’ Communications Department, you'll will work across the team in a variety of areas detailed below.
What you'll do as a Senior Communications Associate, Public Affairs
We’re a publicly traded (NASDAQ: DKNG) technology company headquartered in Boston. As a regulated gaming company, you may be required to obtain a gaming license issued by the appropriate state agency as a condition of employment. The US base salary range for this full-time position is 67,200.00 USD - 84,000.00 USD, plus bonus, equity, and benefits as applicable. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The compensation information displayed on each job posting reflects the range for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. We are searching for a smart and proactive Public Affairs & Communications Senior Associate. This individual will play a crucial role supporting the public affairs and corporate social responsibility team while delivering on company objectives. Functioning as a supporting member of DraftKings’ Communications Department, you'll will work across the team in a variety of areas detailed below.
What you'll do as a Senior Communications Associate, Public Affairs
- Create compelling written, social and multi-media content that inspires DraftKings customers and external advocates to learn more about the company’s public policy initiatives and take action on legislative priorities.
- Develop written content and maintain messaging library related to the company’s responsible gaming initiatives, including talking points, briefing materials, thought leadership, op-eds and presentations.
- Assist in developing and drafting communications-related materials including but not limited to press releases, prep documents, plans, media pitches, social media copy, award submissions, speaking engagement proposals and more.
- Aid in the development and execution of rapid response campaigns to quickly mobilize DraftKings’ advocates when needed.
- Maintain and develop content for the company’s grassroots websites, advocacy communications and other grassroots advocacy materials.
- Monitor, research and analyze industry trends, legislative developments, and public policy issues.
- Provide support for DraftKings S.E.R.V.E.S. global corporate social responsibility program, including coordination with external and internal partners, content development and communications planning.
- Assist with public policy related media requests and outreach.
- Support administrative efforts including research, media monitoring, agendas, conference call coordination, and note taking.
- At least 2 years of experience in public affairs, grassroots advocacy, digital/social media engagement, issue advocacy, corporate political engagement, or political campaigns.
- Strong understanding of the federal and state legislative process and experience managing issue-oriented campaigns.
- Demonstrated experience writing and developing content to support public affairs strategies, including grassroots messaging, one-pagers, issue briefs, op-eds, thought leadership and social media.
- Exceptional project management skills and the ability to structure and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and drive to completion, often with short deadlines.
- Knowledge of public policy, issue advocacy, government affairs and corporate social responsibility.
- Positive and collaborative personality who can work seamlessly within the Communications team.
- Corporate or agency public affairs experience is a plus.
- Ability to travel up to 30%.
