Vice President, Strategic Growth and Finance

TNTP seeks a full-time Vice President for the Strategic Growth and Finance Division. This position is based from a home office anywhere in the U.S. Some travel of up to 20% will be required, contingent upon organizational/state/federal travel regulations.

What You’ll Do
The Vice President, Strategic Growth and Finance plays a critical role in setting the vision and strategy for TNTP’s strategic growth, finance, and accounting teams. The Vice President will be responsible for ensuring the organization has the infrastructure, systems, and processes that enable us to sustainably manage our growth and finances in support of student impact while working across divisions to add value, expertise and support to the entire organization. As a member of TNTP’s Leadership Team, the Vice President will report to TNTP’s Senior Vice President, Strategic Growth and Finance, and will work closely with other functional leaders in the organization, including the Chief Strategic Growth and Finance Officer as well as colleagues across the Executive and Leadership teams. The Vice President will provide direct management to the Controller, Partner - Financial Planning and Analysis, and Partner - Strategic Growth, and their respective teams.
More specifically, the Vice President, Strategic Growth and Finance will:
- Lead a robust and transparent budget process in conjunction with the executive and leadership teams that will foster collaboration and accountability between the organization and its stakeholders.
- Oversee the development and implementation of a multi-year growth strategy that positions TNTP to build and manage growth in sustainable ways that maximizes our impact.
- Manage the strategic growth, finance and accounting teams toward intended outcomes, while building a strong and healthy culture, working collaboratively across divisions on shared organizational goals.
- Provide strategic financial input and leadership for TNTP’s financial modeling and planning, budgeting, cash flow and investment priorities, driving decisions on initiatives affecting the organization’s operating performance while effectively managing risk and overhead.
- Take an innovative approach in all areas of financial management, modeling and reporting to ensure decision making is driven by strategic data and analysis and aligned with TNTP’s strategic plan.
- Serve as a change agent and collaborative leader to marshal resources and investment with the proper balance of technology landscaping and a pragmatic, results-oriented approach.
- Optimize financial modeling, reporting and analysis to provide senior level leadership with access to data and information that enables them to make decisions in a timely manner.
- Oversee the development of best-in-class central infrastructure, including processes and systems, that ensure the organization is maximizing business efficiencies.
- Establish and maintain the financial reporting systems and controls to ensure compliance with financial consolidation and reporting requirements, ensuring regulatory compliance and effective risk management
- Design and lead the business insight strategy, including building an internal business consultant function across the organization
- Lead the evaluation and review of market opportunities and partnerships, assessing potential impact and opportunity, and ensuring a sound return on investment.

We expect our Vice President to:
- Provide forward thinking financial leadership. As a strategic leader within the Strategic Growth and Finance Division, you bring exceptional financial expertise and strong business strategy experience, including substantial experience in financial management, forecasting and planning, non-profit GAAP accounting, revenue forecasting, costs, and key variables based on historical trends and expected results, cash flow management, and the development and analysis of key performance indicators.
- Translate strategy into action. You have an ability to critically assess challenges, including those that occur on short notice and require immediate action, and identify flexible, effective solutions. You are “hands-on”; with an ability to feel at home working at a visionary/strategic level but fully willing to roll up your sleeves and dig into tactical work. You’re proficient in various technical applications and comfortable in a division and organization where everyone works remotely.
- Lead through growth and change. You have a demonstrated track record of success in organizational change management. You embrace ambiguity and are adaptable, flexible, and comfortable with constant change.

Successful candidates will also possess many of the following qualifications:
- An undergraduate degree in business administration, finance, financial management, audit/accounting, or a similar field is required; an advanced degree is advantageous
- A CPA or CFA is not required but is considered highly valued
- At least seven-to-ten years of senior professional experience in a financial operational leadership position at the Director-level or above
- Strong knowledge of non-profit accounting and associated financial requirements
- Experience within a complex non-profit is essential to success in this role; candidates with a combination of for-profit and non-profit experience are welcomed
- A demonstrated track record of achievement and results as a senior leader in the finance and accounting area, including helping to scale an organization and instituting change management initiatives
- Prior experience managing staff, developing employees, and managing their career needs, particularly those geographically dispersed in a virtual environment
- A deep understanding of revenue generation, financial forecasting/reporting, budgeting, systems integration, and financial planning and analysis
- Experience implementing Workday and Adaptive desirable
- Advanced acumen in technical applications such as Excel and CRM systems such as Salesforce
- Experience with oversight of a complex payroll and tax processing organization; preferably experience with ADP
- A desire to work in a remote environment, including comfort with web-based collaboration software (video chat, IM, etc.)
