Job Description
Studio Institute seeks an experienced, organized, and innovative arts professional responsible for administration of a diverse portfolio of teen programs and direct oversight and supervision of the Teen Apprenticeship Program (TAP), a two-part apprenticeship and paid internship program that trains and teaches teens how to teach visual art to elementary summer camp students. The manager should have a passion for visual arts education and cultivating a community of dedicated young people while carrying out the mission and values of Studio Institute. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic and collaborative environment and be responsible for program leadership, managing administrative tasks, and developing and sustaining partnerships.
The manager is an exempt full-time position reporting to the Executive Vice President and supervises one full-time Associate Manager position and provides overall supervision to seasonal staff in collaboration with the Associate Manager.

Based upon the 45 years of successful impact in visual arts education, Studio in a School formed Studio Institute (Studio) in 2016 with the goal to expand our scope, providing programs and creating new partnerships with communities and cultural organizations nationwide. Studio is currently working with partners in Boston, Baltimore, Chicago, Cleveland, Memphis, Newark, New York, Philadelphia, and Providence.
Primary responsibilities include;
Administration
- Manage student and partner organization databases, ensure all required documents are completed and contact information is accurate
- Collaborate with NYC Public Schools to coordinate student recruitment sessions, ensure timely execution of outreach for recruitment, communication and registration for sessions, and logistics
- Manage program documentation; liaise with communications team to develop promotional materials including on social media
- Track Scholarship eligibility and coordinate recipient event with associate manager and Studio team
- Oversee administration of Studio Intensives program
- Oversee selection of teen artwork and coordinate exhibition planning and logistics
Compliance
- Collaborating with the Studio team to ensure quality programming, from program development through execution, for a diverse portfolio of programs for teens that include career-related internships, skill-development workshops, and workshops for visual arts careers
- Developing and maintaining tracking system for overall teen programs spending on purchases aligned with program budget including, art supplies, office supplies, and meals
- Researching new vendors for cost efficient spending across teen programs
- Oversee hiring requirements with partner organizations and SYEP
- Collaborate with Human Resources department, payroll administrator, and executive assistant/office manager to collect and track hiring documents and submit to partners for student employment
- Oversee compliance for part-time employees, including college mentors
- Ensure employees receive adequate sick time and their work hours do not exceed total hours outlined in a contract or offer letter
- Developing and monitoring data collection systems for program highlights and metrics
- Collaborate with Communications team to create impact documents for stakeholders, funders, annual report, and Board/committees
Teen Apprenticeship Program (TAP) Management
- Lead the TAP program in collaboration with the Associate Manager
- Develop and maintain timeline and schedules to carry out the program
- Develop and monitor all administrative systems and quality measures to carry out the program
- Ensure the program is staffed and all training/onboarding is completed
- Represent Studio at partner meetings and leading the overall planning with partners
- Creating a safe, empowering space promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Building and sustaining partnerships with community-based organizations (CBOs) for TAP at coordinating worksites; initiating new partnerships and sustaining continued relationships
- Collaborating with Studio managers to support college readiness and career guidance
- Provide one on one advisement sessions for teen interns and college mentors on college selection and application process
- Provide sessions on career guidance including resume and cover letter review
Education and Professional Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in the visual arts, arts education, or arts administration
- 3+ years paid full-time management experience within the arts, arts education or a related field/profession
- Supervisory experience
- Experience recruiting and managing high school interns
- Experience with budget management, including vendor relations and event planning
- Experience processing hiring documents and managing payroll
- Experience using Microsoft 365 applications and file/folder management (SharePoint/OneDrive)
- Experience using Google Workspace tools (Gmail, Forms, file/folder management)
- Strong decision-making skills and ability to manage multiple projects within expected timelines
- Must be available to work consecutively during peak program months, May through Mid-September
- Must be available to work on select Saturdays and evenings
- Familiarity with arts institutions across New York City
- Familiarity with NYC Public Schools Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP), and NYC summer camps serving young children

Location
We are currently working on a hybrid schedule. The Manager, Teen Administration and TAP will work (4) days per week in our office at 410 W 59th St, New York, NY, and (1) day per week remote though this schedule may shift and evolve.

Salary
The position is budgeted at $72,000 - $75,000 annually. We welcome an open discussion with all interested candidates about the full compensation package.
