Job Description

This is a role for a pro PE-EL who loves to lead and develop winning teams, with excellent communication skills & 5+ years experience managing thru collaboration, critical thinking with strong problem-solving skills; utilizing technology, systems & software relevant to the job.

Required: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering & a CA Professional Engineering (PE-EL) credential - if PE-EL from another jurisdiction must commit to earn a CA PE-EL within twelve months.

Required Experience – FIVE (5) + years of progressively responsible relevant engineering experience in distribution system planning, T&D maintenance or operations with 5+ years in a leadership role managing a diverse team, coaching, mentoring, training, and developing team members; process design and fundamentals for continuous process improvement.

Lead a dynamic team responsible for the short- and long-term planning of the distribution system of one of CA’s premier and leading cities in pursuit of a Zero-Carbon future. Planning in REAL TIME. Lead the distribution planning (DP) group to assure the timely interconnection of new customers and expansion of the grid to support electrification and vehicle charging efforts.

Responsible for the safe & reliable integration of distributed energy resources (DER) & leading/working with cross functional teams shaping the future of the grid with new tech and high penetration of DER. Work closely across many depts/orgss including ops, substation design and maintenance, line design and construction, to ensure the safe reliable design and operation of the electric grid serving more than 650,000 customers in real-time. Assure management and accountability for the development of short-term and long-term capacity plans for distribution and sub-transmission systems to ensure sufficient capacity to serve existing and future electrical demands in a safe, efficient and reliable manner. Manage the distribution and sub-transmission system planning process from engineering assessment of current system performance, forecasting future demands, identifying system needs considering alternative solutions, to the developing a cost-effective five-year system capacity plan to achieves strategic objectives.

Develops, implements, and manages work area goals, objectives, policies & priorities in partnership with senior leadership; ensures that strategic objectives are achieved by leading staff & collaborating efforts.
