Summary
This position serves as the Regional Director of the Office of Western Hemisphere and European Affairs, Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operations (CSO/P/WHA-EUR) and provides leadership, direction and oversight for utilizing the Bureau’s conflict expertise to promote stabilization by developing analytical planning, program strategies, initiatives, and learning tools to anticipate, prevent and respond to violent conflict within the WHA-EUR region.
Duties
Acts as the senior policy advisor and expert for the Western Hemisphere and European regions by providing oversight, leadership, and direction to bureau staff.
Collaborates with regional and functional Bureaus, and interagency partners to strengthen their regional expertise and further U.S. Government conflict prevention priorities and stabilization.
Carries out duties and responsibilities typical of a second level supervisor: overseeing work, dispute resolution, employee performance, staffing, ensuring DEIA goals are observed, providing guidance and professional development opportunities, etc.
Serves as senior subject matter expert and authority regarding stabilization and conflict prevention goals and objectives, formulation of strategic prevention, conflict resolution, and security sector stabilization in WHA and EUR Regions.
Develops and maintains close, collaborative and long-term relationships with priority embassies as a means of enhancing country-specific administrative and substantive expertise to anticipate, prevent and respond to conflict in the country.
