Job Description
Job Title: Grant Writer (Part-Time, Hybrid) About the Position:
A successful candidate for this position is a self-motivated individual with outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills, proven attention to detail and follow-through, and enthusiasm for SVA’s mission. This is a part-time, hybrid position, offering flexibility to work both remotely and on-site as needed
Key Responsibilities:
- Research and develop grant opportunities with foundations and corporations
- Write and submit LOIs and grant proposals that align with funders' guidelines
- Collaborate with the program managers to gather details on needs, budgets, and data for grant submissions
- Maintain accurate records of grant submissions, deadlines, outcomes, and follow-ups
- Ensure timely submission of proposals and updates
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with foundations and corporations
Essential Skills:
- Experience in the not-for-profit community, preferably in education
- Strong writing and communication skills, including experience with LOI’s and grant proposals
- Ability to collaborate effectively across departments
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience required
- 1-3 years of development/grant writing experience
- Demonstrated ability to secure grants from foundations and corporations
- Knowledge of best practices, protocols, procedures, and data management
Additional Skills:
- Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Initiative to maintain good communications and develop effective relationships with foundations and corporations
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a development team
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products, especially Word and Excel
- Database management skills, specifically with Raiser’s Edge
- Dedication to supporting the legacy and mission of Saint Vincent Academy
- Some knowledge of Newark’s business, professional, educational, and community organizations
