Airbnb was born in 2007 when two Hosts welcomed three guests to their San Francisco home, and has since grown to over 4 million Hosts who have welcomed more than 1 billion guest arrivals in almost every country across the globe. Every day, Hosts offer unique stays and experiences that make it possible for guests to connect with communities in a more authentic way.

The Community You Will Join

Airbnb’s Advocacy team is part of the broader Public Policy group, dedicated to protecting and promoting our community of hosts and guests across North America. The team works closely with Public Policy stakeholders, regional policy teams, and external partners to influence legislation, foster strategic partnerships, and engage with community leaders. Operating in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, the team uses innovative advocacy strategies to advance fair and progressive home-sharing rules.

Success in this role means creating impactful advocacy campaigns, increasing community engagement, and achieving measurable policy outcomes.

A Typical Day

  • Develop and implement comprehensive community activation strategies aligned with legislative and policy goals.
  • Create advocacy materials, including email campaigns, call-to-action posts, and host toolkits for sharing and engagement.
  • Engage with community members through digital channels, webinars, and in-person events to educate and mobilize them on policy issues.
  • Build and nurture relationships with Host club leaders and advocacy organizations to maximize grassroots impact.
  • Analyze and report on campaign performance, using data insights to refine strategies and content.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Public Policy stakeholders and external partners to align initiatives and priorities.
  • Plan and execute events such as action meetings and community meetups to drive grassroots engagement.

Your Expertise

  • 2+ years of professional experience in community organizing, advocacy campaigns, or political mobilization.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of grassroots advocacy techniques, including digital organizing and community mobilization.
  • Proficiency in writing and producing digital content, such as email campaigns and other advocacy materials.
  • Experience using tools such as VAN, Salesforce, NationBuilder, or similar grassroots organizing systems.
  • Familiarity with cloud productivity apps (Google Workspace), project management tools (e.g., Asana, Monday), and virtual conferencing platforms.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
