Join our team at Alpine Learning Group as our inaugural Community Building Specialist and play a pivotal role in fostering a strong and supportive community within our organization. We seek a dedicated individual passionate about building connections, nurturing relationships, and furthering a sense of belonging and inclusivity among staff and families whom we serve. 

This is an onsite, 40 hours/week position requiring occasional evening / weekend availability to lead and support community-building initiatives. 

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement initiatives furthering sense of community among staff and consumers.
  2. Organize regular events, activities, and social gatherings to promote organizational camaraderie, collaboration, and team spirit.
  3. Create and facilitate channels for staff and consumers to share their interests, talents, and experiences, nurturing  a sense of appreciation and mutual respect.
  4. In collaboration with Alpine’s DEI Committee, support development, coordination and implementation of initiatives and events to enhance awareness and program participation.
  5. Lead the planning and coordination of staff appreciation events, recognition programs, and community celebrations.
  6. Collaborate with department heads and team leaders to identify and address any barriers to community building within and across their respective teams.
  7. Act as a liaison between staff members and management, advocating for the needs and preferences of employees in community-building efforts.
  8. Evaluate and assess effectiveness of stakeholder satisfaction with community-building initiatives by conducting regular check-ins and surveys. 
  9. Build out an annual community engagement calendar with key events to foster engagement within and across departments for staff and consumers of our services.
  10. Partner with the Development team to develop initiatives that facilitate and encourage volunteerism at Alpine events.
  11. Develop and maintain communication channels (e.g., newsletters, online forums, social media groups) to facilitate ongoing engagement and connection among staff members and consumers.
  12. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather information and act as a liaison between Alpine and our external marketing agency.
  13. Stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in community building, employee engagement, and organizational culture.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, human resources, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in community building, organizational development, or employee engagement, preferably in a nonprofit or educational setting.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the importance of community and belonging in the workplace, with a passion for creating inclusive environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Strong organizational and event planning abilities, with attention to detail and a creative approach to problem-solving.
  • Empathy, compassion, and a genuine interest in supporting the well-being and happiness of others.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels of the organization and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications. 
  • Deep familiarity with current social media landscape with demonstrated ability to stay up to date with the latest technologies and trends.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends to accommodate community-building events and activities.
