BGR Group, a premier bipartisan government relations firm, is seeking applications for a Policy Analyst position to support the International and Trade Practice.


Position Overview: This position is responsible for performing a wide variety of detailed and complex research tasks for a bipartisan team of about a dozen government relations professionals in the international and trade practice of a lobbying firm, in support of a wide range of clients including domestic small businesses, multinationals, aid groups, and foreign governments. The chosen candidate will also complete administrative tasks as needed with minimal guidance, frequently in a confidential fashion.


Responsibilities:


  1. Conduct research on legislative and executive branch activity, as well as international developments, upon request from clients and lobbyists. Draft clear and concise memos and mailings based on this research.
  2. Monitor legislative and executive action for specific client issues and alert lobbying team as needed.
  3. Compile and draft a variety of reports, including weekly, monthly, and quarterly updates for international clients.
  4. Handle lobbying team’s administrative tasks, including scheduling meetings and fundraisers, organizing travel, compiling biannual legal disclosure information, submitting expense reports, and working with staff on other functional teams within the firm to ensure meetings and material distribution occur promptly.
  5. Draft briefing materials for client fly-ins and organize them into presentable files. Also assist lobbying team in scheduling and organizing these visits.


Qualifications: 1-3 years previous administrative and research experience in international relations. Master’s degree highly desired; bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) required. Prior experience on the Hill or in government relations strongly preferred.

  6. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)


Internal Relationships: Work directly with a bipartisan team of lobbyists in the international section and a senior policy analyst. Work alongside other support staff and lobbyists in other practice areas as it relates to international client work.


External Relationships: Have occasional contact with clients, including foreign embassy staff, congressional staff, administration staff, and outside vendors.


Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Extended hours should be expected during busy times or when events are held.


Compensation range: $50,000 - $75,000
