ENERGY PROJECT MANAGER (Senior Management Specialist)
The New York City School Construction Authority (SCA) is responsible for the design, construction and renovation of the City’s 1,400 public school buildings. We are one of the region's largest construction entities, building and modernizing school facilities for the largest school district in the nation. Our work seeks to provide educational opportunities to NYC public school students through the construction of innovative and dynamic spaces that foster a love of learning and a strong sense of educational community. The Capital Plan Management Department at the NYC School Construction Authority is responsible for developing and implementing the Five-Year Capital Plan which outlines priorities for creating new school facilities as well as upgrading our existing buildings. We are seeking an ENERGY PROJECT MANAGER to join our Sustainability Planning Unit. The role will work closely with internal and external stakeholders including other city agencies and will primarily be charged with supporting the development and implementation of projects that reduce energy and carbon emissions as well as clean energy projects in City schools.
Other Responsibilities Include:
Support the design and development of energy efficiency and/or clean energy projects by collaborating with internal stakeholders to identify potential energy efficiency and clean energy project opportunities at City schools and draft funding proposals;
Collaborate on day-to-day energy efficiency and/or clean energy project implementation; liaise with internal stakeholders including the Architecture & Engineering and Construction Management Departments and the SCA’s Office of Design and Construction Innovation to track project status; review and maintain project-related documentation, scopes of work, cost proposals, and progress reports; perform risk assessment as needed;
Manage energy project tracking, data analysis and reporting; perform data collection and reporting in the areas of compliance, budgets, scopes, estimated energy savings and emissions reductions.
Provide overall support for the SCA’s and City’s mission by participating in special projects and acting as a resource/subject matter expert as necessary.
Minimum Requirements: A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college plus three (3) years of full-time experience in consulting, design and implementation of management reports, or operations, financial, and/or management analysis, including relevant computer skills; or a satisfactory combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education/Skills: A bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, applied science, environmental science, public policy or related field; at least three years of experience in project management; at least 1-2 years of experience with data collection and analysis or policy planning and analysis; understanding of design and construction of energy efficiency retrofit projects in existing buildings, especially diverse buildings varying in age, size, and use.
