Salary: $156,300 to $189,984

The City of San Rafael is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as the Community Services Division Director. This is a newly created position and a unique opportunity to build and lead a new division within the City. Reporting to the Assistant City Manager, the Division Director will play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing the City’s strategies to address critical social issues, with a primary focus on homelessness. In this high-impact role, you will oversee program development, budget management, policy creation, and partnerships with various stakeholders, including public agencies, community organizations, and residents.

The Division Director will collaborate with other City departments, County partners, and private and public entities to develop initiatives that enhance the quality of life for the city’s vulnerable populations. This role is ideal for a passionate, self-starting individual who can transform strategic goals into innovative programs that drive positive change.

  • Key Responsibilities:Develop and lead the City’s Community Services Division, focusing on homelessness and related services.
  • Manage strategic planning, policy development, and program implementation.
  • Serve as a liaison between the City and external partners, including public agencies, community organizations, and residents.
  • Oversee budget management and resource allocation to ensure the effective delivery of services.
  • Coordinate with City departments and external partners to advance community initiatives.
