The Senate Foreign Relations Committee Majority (Democratic) Staff seeks an energetic and collaborative team player to serve as Press Secretary. The Press Secretary works under the guidance of the Communications Director and serves as a liaison between the press and the Chair. Responsibilities include drafting and distributing statements and press releases, managing media requests, pitching stories to reporters, and coordinating press events. This role demands strong media relations skills, meticulous attention to detail, a keen interest in American foreign policy, and exceptional oral and written communication abilities. You must be adept at multitasking and thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, while maintaining a collaborative attitude.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, International Relations, Political Science, or a closely related field.
  • Exceptional writing skills with proficiency in persuasive and concise copywriting, as well as meticulous attention to grammar and audience segmentation.
  • Proven experience in developing earned media strategies, pitching to broadcast outlets, securing placements, and managing media relations.
  • Hands-on digital storytelling experience with digital and social media, including proficiency in graphic and video editing software such as Adobe Creative Cloud and Canva.
  • Fluency in Spanish and additional languages is highly desirable, though not mandatory.
