The Principal's Secretary at The Chiles Academy is responsible for the following duties:

  • Answer front door of a busy school campus with positive and welcoming attitude
  • Provide 5-star customer service for all community members by staying curious, being ready to problem solve, and following through to meet needs as they arise
  • Systems organizing like digital and hard copy filing, student record management and organizational thinking a must
  • Assist in enrollment and on-boarding process for incoming students
  • Maintain and update school website and social media accounts as needed
  • Provide a variety of clerical and administrative support for principal and administrators
  • Serve as back up support for registrar (student records, attendance, and data management)
  • Support all school fundraising efforts including donor solicitation, maintain updated list of needed items for donation, stewardship outreach, and maintain online school store to sell TCA-branded items.
  • Type, edit and proofread correspondence, reports, memoranda and contracts.
  • Receive and screen phone calls, greet visitors and review and disseminate incoming mail.
  • Schedule and assist in facilitation of school safety drills
  • Support for the principal in preparation for board of directors meetings.
  • Schedules meetings, appointments and travel arrangements for principal and other administrators as needed
  • Maintain school master calendar
  • Perform other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator


Educational Requirements & Character Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma (or higher); AA or AS preferred
  • Previous experience in office management, systems-level support and/or executive secretary experience
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt as needed in a fast-paced school environment.
  • Excellent communication skills (writing, speaking, greeting, positivity for all constituents)
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting.


Salary Range, Benefits, & Annual Calendar:

• Starting salary range is $29,000 - $34,000 depending on experience & qualifications

• 4 day work week; Monday – Thursday from 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM

• Benefits available after 90 day probationary period

• Ten days of paid time off (PTO) per year
