Supervisory Foreign Affairs Officer

Summary

The Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, Office of Assistance Coordination (NEA/AC) is responsible for coordinating all foreign assistance across all accounts throughout the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, and for the management and implementation of several foreign assistance-funded programmatic initiatives. The office ensures that foreign assistance resources are being used to support dynamic policy imperatives in the region.


Duties

Oversees the development and updating of assistance programming strategies for assigned countries or portfolios.

Assesses proposals for new or expanded assistance programs, judging their consistency with NEA’s overall mission, their efficacy and cost, and any limitations as defined in applicable law.

Analyzes program information, goals, and objectives as well as assistance performance data and proposals in order to prepare reports, as well as draft memos, and other documents for bureau senior leadership.

Coordinates or drafts papers and briefing memoranda for senior officials on policy proposals and/or projects involving the analyses of political economic, political military, social, and other significant trends in MENA countries.
