Job Description
Overview:
The Managing Director, Growth and Partnerships will play a key role in expanding City Teaching Alliance’s footprint in new sites through site prospecting, partnership cultivation, teacher matriculation, and staff recruitment as well as cultivating strategic partnerships that are key to recruitment and retention goals. Reporting to the Chief, Site Leadership, this role will help to ensure that each new City Teaching Alliance site is launched in alignment with our national model and is positioned to scale efficiently and effectively.
Responsibilities:
The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Site Exploration and Development
- Partner with the CEO, COO, and other leadership to identify and conduct initial research into potential expansion areas
- Develop and maintain productive working relationships with senior leaders at district, charter, and state partners
- Lead site partnership development by identifying and building relationships with potential partners and identifying new opportunities for City Teaching Alliance
- Coordinate with District/CMO recruitment and/or human resources teams to co-construct talent strategy for the upcoming year
- Partner with Chief, Site Leadership to develop and refine blueprint for site expansion
Partnership Cultivation
- Identify and cultivate national and local external partnerships (e.g. housing, banking, wellness) to support the transition to and retention of teachers in the site
- In partnership with VP, Site Leadership, develop site-specific goals and metrics related to partnerships and track and collect data towards those metrics
Teacher Recruitment, Matriculation, and Placement
- Collaborate with the Recruitment and Admissions team to achieve new site recruitment and matriculation goals
- In collaboration with the Chief, Site Leadership, complete school hiring and placement process with the incoming Cohort ensuring 100% placement of residents prior to the first day of school
- In partnership with the Teacher Experience Team, support targeted recruitment and retention initiatives such as the Black Educators Initiative and La Comunidad, and recommend other ways to recruit and retain a diverse teaching force
Staff Hiring and Onboarding
- Support the hiring of site staff, serving as a key member of the hiring committee
- Support with onboarding site staff to ensure an effective transition of partnerships, operations, and teacher support functions
Site Operations
- Support summer institute planning and execution for the incoming Cohort
- Develop any systems and structures necessary for site and regional communications
- Maintain all partnership data in Salesforce
- Oversee communication with district and charter partners about City Teaching Alliance’s data collection requirements and accountability expectations
- Support local recruitment efforts as needed, in partnership with the City Teaching Alliance Recruitment team
- Document systems and processes that can be used for future sites
Target Start Date: June 2025
Location: This position is remote, but the candidate must be within driving distance (i.e. less than three hours) from Baltimore/DC.
Time Commitment and Compensation: $106,873 - $153,793 & is subject to a geographic differential which could increase or decrease it by 4% or 8% depending on city of residence. We are an anti-racist organization that prioritizes equity so we do not negotiate salaries.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of leadership experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and engage diverse stakeholders
- Knowledge of the K-12 education landscape, including current trends, challenges, and opportunities
- Visionary leadership with a strategic mindset and the ability to navigate complex challenges
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience launching or scaling a program or new site highly preferred
- Flexibility to adjust plans as needed while maintaining momentum
- A strong commitment to continuous improvement and learning
