Distributed Organizing Director

Overview:

Climate Defiance is seeking a Distributed Organizing Director. This person will set up, guide, coach and mentor volunteer-led chapters across the country.  Additionally, you will lead and coordinate direct actions that publicly challenge corporate executives and elected officials regarding their climate stance.

Qualifications:

• Professional Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of organizing or campaigning experience.
• Distributed Organizing Experience: At least one year of experience running a distributed organizing program. Here we are defining distributed organizing as organizing that spans MULTIPLE cities that each have fully volunteer-run/unstaffed chapters. 
• Team Management: Experience managing teams of volunteers. Staff management experience is great but not required. 
• Conflict Resolution: Experience in leading systematic conflict resolution.
• Direct Action Involvement: Active participation in and leadership of direct actions.
• Willingness to Travel: Flexibility and readiness to engage in extensive travel for actions and site visits.

Location:

Currently, the majority of our volunteers and staff are situated in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast regions. While we prefer candidates from these areas, we remain open to exceptional candidates regardless of location. We have slight preference for candidates located (or willing to relocate to) a major population center, however we are open to hiring applicants in any city. This role will necessitate substantial travel for actions and site visits.
