Bipartisan lobbying firm seeks a legislative assistant to handle a broad portfolio, from health care, energy, and trade. The LA role requires close collaboration with the Senior LAs and LD. The duties of this position include summarizing hearings, attending webinars and briefings, preparing weekly updates, and providing scheduling and administrative support. Additionally, an LA will monitor pending legislation and conduct research projects for the health team as needed. Hours for the LA position are typically 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in-person Monday through Friday, though a flexible schedule is helpful as firm events may require coming in early or staying late.


An ideal applicant will have a bachelor's degree, strong research writing, communication, and writing abilities, along with the ability to manage a range of tasks and meet strict deadlines. Capitol Hill experience is desirable, but not necessary. 


Legislative Assistant Responsibilities


  • Prepare customized summaries of Congressional hearings and markups relevant to clients.
  • Attend webinars, briefings, and other events and share write-ups with clients.
  • Writing weekly updates for trade, energy, tax, and trade, compiling news from a variety of sources.
  • Provide scheduling support for client meetings.
  • Conduct research projects and draft memos for the health team for different issue areas.
  • Monitor pending legislation for clients.
  • Carrying out administrative duties in the office, which includes answering the phones and managing the front office.
  • Driving clients to Congressional meetings.
