Candidates who are skilled at data cleaning, analysis, visualization, and synthesis and are willing to roll up their sleeves to do the work will succeed at Project Evident. After joining the team and learning the ropes, you will have an opportunity to engage with clients and see how our work directly impacts schools and students. Project Evident and EAP specifically is in an exciting phase of growth work and, more importantly, in a position to make a meaningful difference for education leaders and the families and students they serve. We are looking for a special person to join our team and deliver on our mission of better, more meaningful and equitable outcomes for students and communities.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Education Agency Practice works hand-in-hand with state and local education leaders to use data and evidence to continuously improve operational, financial, policy, and programmatic decisions in the pursuit of better student outcomes. In this role, you will assist with collecting, researching, synthesizing and analyzing data to generate data visualizations, reports, presentations and tools to support client or department needs. This work is critical to help our education leaders have access and use actionable evidence to make trade-off decisions that advance student outcomes. You will also engage with clients to ensure that we have a clear understanding of the nature of the data we are analyzing and learn more about their data context.

You will report to our Data Manager and work closely with other members of the EAP team.

Below is a full list of responsibilities you can expect in this role:

  • Assemble, clean, manage, and analyze large longitudinal data sets derived from multiple sources
  • Evaluate data quality, identifying data outliers and anomalies that require resolution prior to analysis
  • Identify coding challenges and resolve or elevate them within the data team
  • Create robust, maintainable, well-documented scripts to automate common tasks
  • Appropriately structure data files depending on use, e.g., analysis, visualization, etc
  • Execute standard analyses and help develop customized analyses that address questions of core interest to partner organizations
  • Perform complex programming/analytic tasks with supervision
  • Participate in presenting key research findings to internal and external audiences
  • Contribute to drafting memos, reports, case studies, and presentations for partner leadership, including school boards, superintendents, and principals, as well as other stakeholders (e.g., advisors and funders)

We want Project Evident to be the place where you do the best work of your career, which means making sure that you are in a role that matches your skills, interests, and goals. Here's what we’re looking for in this role.

You need to engage as a core member of our Education analytics team and support the project lead by being able to collect and conduct data analysis and visualizations, provide in-depth quality assurance, and generate high quality synthesis. Throughout our engagements, you will also develop a deeper understanding of our partner’s context - specifically, how they collect and use data. We are a Stata team and you will quickly learn or already know how to use Stata for your work.

We are also looking for someone who wants to be a part of the K-12 education sector and cares deeply about student outcomes. You are committed to ensuring that our work has direct impact, will roll-up your sleeve and support where needed. You are someone who thrives in a fast-paced and remote/hybrid environment.

Below is a full list of requirements in this role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (ex: statistics, economics, econometrics, math, public policy or other related fields)

  • Impeccable attention to detail and extremely high standards for accuracy, particularly the ability to clearly document data collection, cleaning, and analytic processes
  • Proven ability to work under tight timelines, accurately assess problems, and develop solutions
  • Comfort with ambiguity and ability to respond adeptly to rapidly changing priorities, comfortable in an entrepreneurial environment with fast deadlines
