Job Description
Assemblymember-elect Emerita Torres (AD 85) is seeking general submissions (resume and short cover letter) for positions on her team, including in her Bronx district office and in Albany. We seek to build a team of high performers who are collaborative, innovative, curious, and motivated to make a difference for the Bronx and all New Yorkers.
Applicants must have sound judgment, strong interpersonal and communications skills, and the capacity to manage multiple projects and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
The Office seeks applicants with the following skills and/or experiences:
- Researching, drafting, and tracking legislation and policy. This may include tracking legislation and policy at the municipal and federal levels in addition to New York State.
- Cultivate and manage relationships with key staff at government agencies to achieve legislative, policy and constituent goals.
- Research and track city, state, and federal grants, programming and resource opportunities for our district.
- Managing constituent cases and working with appropriate agencies to solve constituent issues.
- Developing and managing a mechanism (database, etc.) to track constituent engagement and service delivery.
- Serving as a liaison between members of the community, government agencies, and the Assemblymember.
- Managing day-to-day operations, office administration, and scheduling, including maintaining the calendar of events.
- Developing, managing and executing communications plans, including all public-facing communications, social media platforms, talking points and remarks, and working closely with the press corps.
- Pitching stories, op-eds, and interviews for the Assemblymember across media.
- Planning events, press conferences, and rallies.
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
