Shift Schedule: Monday-Friday: 8AM-4PMHours Per Week: 35

This is a full-time, onsite position that requires working in the office and traveling to JASA’s 50 sites across the boroughs as needed.

General Responsibilities:

The Program Director of Nutrition develops and implements evidence-based nutrition education initiatives, manages program budgets, and designs innovative approaches to improve the quality of life for older adults. The Program Director plays a key role in training, menu planning, and community engagement, ensuring culturally appropriate and person-centered care that addresses the diverse needs of clients.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic, engaging nutrition training and education programs, including cooking demonstrations and lectures, to older adult members promoting evidence-based dietary practices and healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Develop culturally appropriate, science-based nutrition materials and educational resources
  • Organize community events with local organizations, healthcare providers, and area schools to promote healthy eating
  • Mentor dietetic interns and provide training to staff on food safety and compliance with DOH and NYC Aging Food Standards.
  • Provides individual and group nutrition counseling and services
  • Monitor and analyze program data to assess effectiveness, optimize workflows, and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Oversee client surveys to gather feedback, refine programs, and address emerging needs, including expanding medical meal options
  • Collaborate on menu planning to ensure compliance with funder standards and alignment with client preferences while monitoring meal quality
  • Manage program budgets and prepare reports as needed
  • Support advocacy for policies promoting nutrition and food security
  • Assist with meal planning and distribution for special events and holiday programs
  • Partner with leadership to expand organizational nutrition services and conduct CEU-approved presentations
  • Travels throughout NYC as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s of Science degree from an accredited college or university in nutrition, public health, or related field; Master’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics preferred
  • Having experience with the following is preferred:
    • Geriatric nutrition
    • Conducting workshops or educational sessions
    • Supervising or mentoring interns
    • Food safety regulations and best practices
  • Strong collaboration skills and an ability to maintain composure and provide leadership in a face-paced, high-stress program
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to facilitate effective cross-team communications with a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Strong technology skills, including the use and maintenance of client-level databases, Microsoft and Google applications, and ability to learn program-specific software
  • Strong commitment to JASA’s mission
  • Understanding and appreciation of the roles of race, religion, ethnicity, sexual preference, and individual values as they relate to serving clients and families
