The Consulate General of Israel to the Midwest is looking to hire a Director of Community and Interfaith Affairs to their growing Chicago team.
The Consulate General of Israel to the Midwest is the official representative of Israel in the Midwest, with jurisdiction over: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. In the U.S., the State of Israel is represented by eight Consulates and the Embassy in Washington, D.C.
The mission of the Chicago-based Consulate is to enhance the ties between Israel and states in the Midwest. This work to advance and deepen diplomatic relations engages diverse communities across various sectors of society – from politics and economics to academia, culture, civil society, and media – in order to create meaningful and lasting partnerships with Israel.
You will work alongside the Directors in the fields of Academics and media relations and Jewish Community Affairs to plan, execute, and support the success of their events and projects, which will regularly involve the following central tasks: coordinating media coverage, establishing plans and expectations for academic engagement with institutions of higher education.
The Role
We are seeking a candidate for the full-time position of Director of Community and Interfaith Affairs. This individual will play a critical role in building upon existing partnerships between Israel and diverse communities in the Midwest, as well as fomenting new ones.
Act as day-to-day liaison between local community contacts and the Consulate
Research, identify, and facilitate potential and ongoing partnership opportunities between local communities and Israel
Lead engagement efforts with key community and religious leaders, community organizations, and nonprofits across the Midwest
Identify opportunities for long-term cooperation between the Consulate and aforementioned communities, orgs, and leaders
Plan and coordinate projects and events to serve as exposure opportunities and introductions on a people-to-people level between Israel and Midwest communities
Plan and execute visits of Israeli diplomats to relevant neighborhoods and community centers
Advise leadership on local community affairs and perspectives
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Community engagement and strong networking skills
- Highly skilled in written and oral communication
- Eagerness to interact proactively with stakeholders
- Works well as part of a team, but has the ability to self-start and work independently
- Proficient multi-tasker in a fast-paced work environment
- Familiarity with diverse communities across the Midwest
- Familiarity with Israel is an advantage
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $56,000.00 - $59,000.00 per year
