Position: Director of Jewish Community Affairs
Organization: Consulate General of Israel to the Southeast

The Consulate General of Israel to the Southeastern U.S. seeks an intelligent, enthusiastic candidate to fill a position in Jewish community relations for the southeast region.
As a member of the Consulate’s team, the successful candidate will be responsible for initiating, developing and maintaining relationships with the Jewish communities in the seven-state region covered by the Consulate, including synagogues, Jewish organizations, and other local groups. The stewarding of positive working relationships with these contacts at all levels, from individual community members to regional and statewide organizational leadership is imperative to the important relations between the State of Israel and the Jewish diaspora.
Responsibilities will include:
1. Fostering and maintaining working relationships with the Jewish communities across the Consulate's jurisdiction (GA, NC, SC, KY, TN, AL, and MS).
2. Writing the Consulate’s “Israel at War” newsletter, which is published three days a week.
3. Supporting community partners in developing and promoting Israel-focused programs.
4. Developing in-person events applicable to the Jewish communities in our region.
5. Assisting with the creation of strategic partnerships between local Jewish communities and applicable organizations and contacts in Israel.
6. Supporting the development of community missions to Israel.
7. Working in collaboration with the Director of Academic Affairs on projects with Hillels and other pro-Israel Jewish student organizations on college campuses.
8. Organizing diplomats’ participation in applicable community programming and events.
9. Writing and editing speeches for public engagements.
10. Tracking relevant news content.
11. Creating detailed reports on current events.
This position is an excellent opportunity to work with local Jewish community leaders on issues of relevance in the Southeast and their effects on Israel. You will work extensively with the diplomatic staff to facilitate and grow the already-strong relationship between Israel and Jewish communities in the Southeast.
Requirements:
The successful candidate must possess knowledge of the Southeast’s Jewish communities, as well as the Israel-US relationship. The successful candidate must be a team player and must have excellent writing skills and computer skills, especially in the Microsoft Office suite. The candidate must be able to execute tasks efficiently in high energy situations and be able to juggle multiple tasks at once. The ability to handle sensitive information is required. A bachelor’s degree is required; candidates will be considered from all majors/fields and levels of experience.
Candidates will be selected on writing and demonstrated interpersonal skills, previous work experience, multi-tasking abilities, and his/her aptitude to work with many diverse groups/stakeholders.
Compensation: ~$70,000 plus benefits, depending on level of education and experience.
