Job Description
Arundel Lodge, Inc. is a behavioral health agency located in Edgewater, MD. Our mission is to improve the lives of children, adults, and families impacted by mental health and substance use disorders.
The Director of Development is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all of the organization's fundraising efforts. This includes major gifts, annual giving, planned giving, corporate and foundation support, and special events. This position works closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, and other key staff to develop and execute the overall fundraising strategy.
Experience:
- Minimum of four years’ experience in fundraising and development, including knowledge of: annual giving, planned giving, foundation and corporate relations, special events, as well as individual and major donor cultivation and stewardship strategies.
- Communications and marketing experience is desirable but not required.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a human services field
Responsibilities include:
Fundraising Strategy and Planning
- Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan to meet the organization's financial goals.
- Establish short- and long-term goals and objectives for fundraising programs.
Major Gifts and Donor Relations
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift prospects and donors.
- Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors.
- Create and execute a strategy for a large sustained base of annual individual donors.
Corporations and Foundations
- Aggressively seek new corporate and foundation funding sources, representing the organization in meetings with potential funders.
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with current and past corporate and foundation supporters.
Grant Writing and Management
- Oversee research and application for grant opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with grant reporting requirements and deadlines.
Planned Giving
- Develop and implement a planned giving program to secure legacy gifts.
- Educate and inform potential donors about planned giving options.
Special Events
- Plan and execute fundraising events.
- Ensure that events are properly staffed and managed to meet fundraising goals.
Marketing and Communications
- Supervise Marketing and Outreach position.
- Develop and oversee the organization’s marketing and communications strategy.
- Increase visibility and understanding of the organization's mission and programs.
- Manage the production of print and digital fundraising materials.
Leadership and Collaboration
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors, volunteers, and other staff members.
- Attend Board meetings and present regular reports on fundraising activities.
Budget Management
- Develop and manage the department's budget.
- Ensure proper allocation of resources to meet fundraising goals.
