Job Description: Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant

Reporting to: Speech and Language Pathologist

Status: Full Time, Non-Exempt

Bright Star Schools is seeking an exceptionally skilled Speech and Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) who has an unwavering belief that all students with diverse abilities can and will achieve at high levels. While being supervised by a Speech-Language Pathologist, the SLPA will provide direct services to students elementary-high school age with needs in articulation and fluency skills, as well as, expressive, receptive, and pragmatic language functioning, and AAC.

 Required knowledge and responsibilities:

  • Formulating schedules to service all students’ IEP minutes 
  • Providing individual and small group services
  • Writing SOAP notes
  • Keeping routine records of LAS sessions up to date
  • Making weekly lesson plans
  • Knowledge of Language and Articulation Development Norms
  • Knowledge of Language and Articulation Disorders
  • Knowledge of Behavior Management
  • Diverse use of materials (i.e. paper-based, board games, technology)
  • General understanding of IEPs
  • Using collected data to provide reports on student progress to supervising SLP
  • Knowledge of various service models (i.e. pull out, push in) 
  • Driving to various locations to service students
  • Collaborating with school personnel regarding the caseload to make necessary adjustments in scheduling 
  • Responding to action items via email communication within 24 hours
  • Demonstrating appropriate conduct
  • Selecting and preparing materials in order to effectively target students’ IEP goals
  • Interact successfully with students, supervisor, school staff, and community agency representatives
  • Modifying or differentiating lessons to meet students’ needs with guidance from supervising SLP
  • Consulting with supervising SLP when students’ progress is not consistent
  • Working with students individually and in small groups
  • Performing any other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • SLPA must have a valid CA license registered with the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board.
  • A bachelor's degree, graduation from an accredited SLPA program, and completion of 100 hours field work/clinical experience from a board-approved program.
  • Up to date CEU completion 
  • Minimum of 2 years experience

 

Pay and Benefits:

Pay:                      $32- $40 per hour

Status:                   Full Time, Non-Exempt
