The Harris-Walz campaign is seeking a Deputy Coalitions Media Director to join the communications team in Wilmington. The Deputy Coalitions Media Director works with the coalitions media director, the press team and the rapid response team to craft and execute a proactive, culturally competent engagement strategy for Latino, Asian American and Pacific Islander, Black, Native American, and LGBTQ+ media.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support in pitching and shaping coverage and identifying opportunities to amplify the Harris Walz campaign unprecedented operation to reach our coalitions groups
  • Work closely with the Coalitions Media Director to develop and execute proactive coalitions media outreach strategies;
  • Build and maintain ongoing relationships with coalitions media outlets and reporters, helping to pitch and shape coverage
  • Work in coordination with other members of the communications team to identify and book surrogates and validators for TV, radio, and print interviews
  • Carry out special projects, rollouts, and message events;
  • Help manage the distribution and quality of written materials every day, from drafting to delivery;
  • Assist in planning press events in coordination with the Political and Coalitions team.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • At least 3 election cycles of media experience.
  • Experience communicating across multiple audiences and channels.
  • Demonstrated record of developing relationships with reporters.
  • Strong adherence to tight deadlines and close attention to detail;
  • Be comfortable working in a fast-paced campaign environment, taking initiative and producing tangible results;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Sharp organizational skills;
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment;
  • Be comfortable working with reporters and have an understanding of the news cycle. On-the-record experience is required;
  • Willing to relocate to Wilmington, DE;
  • This position reports to the Coalitions Media Director.
