Join our growing U.S. Patient Advocacy and Engagement team. We have a diverse portfolio across multiple therapeutic areas and a robust pipeline. We build sustainable relationships and collaborations with diverse Patient Advocacy Groups (PAGs) and public health organizations to bring the patient perspective into GSK from translation research through commercialization. This position leads the GSK U.S. patient advocacy efforts in our vaccine business. GSK partners with diverse not-for-profit groups including Patient Advocacy Groups (PAGs), Public Health Groups, and disease agnostic not-for profits that progress common objectives and help empower people to understand the positive impact of vaccines in supporting healthy communities.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategic engagement plans that support GSK priorities
  • Identify, profile, and prioritize Patient Advocacy Groups, Coalitions, and Public Health Groups and develop strategy for engagement in dynamic landscape with key stakeholder groups to enrich partnerships and reflect needs of business
  • Own, manage, and evolve relationships and partnerships including information-sharing and other opportunities for engagement around shared objectives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional GSK teams, Government Affairs, Public Policy, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Commercial, Health Equity, Communications and Legal and Compliance to build and execute a long-term strategic plan for proactive engagement
  • Represent GSK in key coalitions to share insights and represent the organization’s commitment to prevention and public health
  • Raise awareness at the Federal and State level of the benefits of broad access. Advocate for reduction the barriers to broad access to innovative medicines.
  • Compliantly manage an extensive grants and sponsorship portfolio.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree - BA/BS
  • Four or more years of biopharmaceutical patient advocacy experience
  • Four or more years of experience developing advocacy and engagement strategies that support business priorities
  • Four or more years of experience leading/conducting patient councils, advisory boards, focus groups, and interviews with patient stakeholder communities to glean, curate, and socialize patient insights
  • Four or more years of experience leading activities to support access to innovative therapeutics
  • Four or more years of experience working in or shaping understanding of US healthcare system and led activities to support access to innovative therapeutics
  • Four or more years of experience working in the U.S. landscape, and an ability to develop strategy to shape the respective landscapes
  • Domestic travel with up to 25%, including some weekends

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree of Public Health, Health Policy, or another related field
  • Demonstrated understanding of industry trends and best practices in patient advocacy and engagement
  • Demonstrated understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated experience working with underrepresented communities. Understanding of cultural competencies
  • Commitment to understanding and following all relevant guidelines for appropriate interactions
  • Strong communication and external engagement skills including public speaking and presentations to senior leaders
  • Agile mindset with ability to adjust plans based on internal and external shifts
  • Experience driving initiatives through a highly matrixed environment.
  • Proven cross-functional engagement skills

The annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges from $166,838 to $225,722 taking into account a number of factors including work location within the US market, the candidate’s skills, experience, education level and the market rate for the role. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program which is dependent on the level of the role.
