Position Summary

The Audubon Society of Rhode Island seeks a dynamic and innovative Stormwater Program Manager to lead our technical stormwater efforts at the Stormwater Innovation Center. This role is perfect for a passionate environmental leader with a strong stormwater management, water quality, research, and community science background. The Stormwater Program Manager will lead projects that enhance the health of Rhode Island waterways, driving positive change through research, training, project implementation, and community science initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Management:

  • Lead the project management of stormwater and green infrastructure planning, design and construction projects.
  • Collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, consultants, and community organizations, to ensure successful project outcomes.

Water Quality & Stormwater Research:

  • Oversee water quality and stormwater monitoring programs.
  • Develop methodologies to collect, analyze, and report on water quality and stormwater performance data.
  • Experience with continuous monitoring and telemetered sensors and data loggers.
  • Design and implement research programs to assess the effectiveness of existing green infrastructure.
  • Lead cyanobacteria monitoring efforts, ensuring timely and accurate reporting to inform public health decisions.

Professional Training Initiatives:

  • Share research findings with the broader stormwater community through professional trainings, workshops, and educational tours.

Community Science Programs:

  • Lead community science programs, including volunteer recruitment, training, and coordination, to foster public involvement in water quality and stormwater improvement efforts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Hydrology, Engineering or a related field
  • Proven experience in water quality monitoring, stormwater management practices, and green infrastructure design.
  • Exceptional project management skills, with a track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse stakeholders.
  • Passion for environmental stewardship and a commitment to making a tangible impact on community health and water quality.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Capability to work in various environmental conditions, including outdoor settings.
