Partnership to End Addiction is seeking a full-time Senior Research Associate to join a team that develops, tests, and delivers digital interventions to address substance use in pregnant and postpartum people. This position will also work part-time on our helpline, providing digital support to pregnant and postpartum people, as well as to caregivers and other concerned significant others of individuals struggling with substance use.

This project is funded by grants through September 2027. The duration of this position is dependent on continued funding for the role.

Responsibilities of the job include:

  • Demonstrate and reflect the mission and values of the organization.
  • Proactively coordinate and collaborate with colleagues to fulfill mission and objectives of the job.
  • Work under limited supervision, while exercising independent discretion and judgment to accomplish goals.
  • Assist in developing digital brief interventions for perinatal substance use based on motivational interviewing and cognitive behavior therapy approaches.
  • Provide direct services via text message to pregnant and postpartum people and concerned significant others who contact the Helpline.
  • Deliver structured brief interventions via text message to pregnant and postpartum research study participants via the Helpline.
  • Actively participate in Helpline team meetings and clinical supervision activities.
  • Assist with coordination of research study activities, including developing study assessments, recruiting study participants, tracking participants through the study, and data management.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in public health, psychology, social work, or closely related field and at least 2+ years relevant full-time clinical experience, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, psychology, social work, or closely related field and at least four years relevant full-time work experience, at least two of which are relevant full-time clinical experience
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to convey nonjudgmental empathy and understanding
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Ability to work as part of a cohesive team, but also to exercise independent judgment when needed to achieve goals
  • Some evening and weekend availability required
  • Spanish bilingual preferred
  • Experience working with pregnant/postpartum people with substance use and/or mental health concerns preferred
  • Experience with digital intervention delivery or research preferred

This is a hybrid role. The Senior Research Associate will work in the New York City office at least one day per week.
