Job Posting – Energy Policy Advisor

The Office of Congresswoman Kathy Castor, a senior member of the Energy & Commerce (E&C) Committee and the Select Committee on the Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party (Select Committee), seeks an Energy Policy Advisor in her Washington, D.C. office. This is not an entry-level position and previous policy and/or Capitol Hill experience is required. 

The position will primarily be responsible for handling Rep. Castor’s energy & environment portfolio with a specific focus on clean energy and combating the climate crisis. The Energy Policy Advisor will lead her E&C Energy Subcommittee work and assist with her work as Ranking Member on the E&C Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee and as the Co-Chair of the Select Committee’s Critical Minerals Working Group.

Essential responsibilities include developing and advancing legislation and other policy priorities of strategic importance to the Member, preparing and staffing the Member in committee hearings and markups, researching and advising the Member on policy issues and vote recommendations, drafting talking points and speeches, and representing the Member in meetings and events.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter, possess the capacity to produce high-quality work, have strong communication and writing skills, and be comfortable working in a team environment. 

The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $90,000 annually, based upon experience. The office offers a competitive package of benefits including health insurance, retirement match, student loan repayment program, etc.
