Pay for our Volunteer Engagement Specialist starts at $23.50 per hour.

Under the guidance of the Director of Customer Care and Volunteer Engagement, the Volunteer Engagement Specialist develops and implements strategies for training and support of our volunteers and is the primary point of contact for volunteers and service units throughout assigned areas. They are responsible for fostering a supportive volunteer community, empowering volunteers to thrive in their roles and deliver the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE). This position supports recruitment efforts by delivering high-quality volunteer training and other engagement opportunities to ensure the volunteers overall success. They work cross-departmentally to increase member retention and renewal rates, Net Promotor Scores, and volunteer satisfaction scores.

  • Able to develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships with volunteers, parents, staff, girls and families to drive qualified membership and volunteer leads.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities independently, take initiative, and thrive in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines with minimal oversight.
  • Able to communicate effectively over technology (Skype, email, telephone, etc.).
  • Able to manage and maintain confidential information.
  • Able to work occasional nights and weekends.

You Need:

  • 2 years of related experience in volunteer management or customer service (preferred).
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring volunteers and staff preferred.
  • Familiarity with the Girl Scout program, policies, and procedures, or a willingness to learn and become proficient in these areas.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships with volunteers and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with volunteers, staff, and external stakeholders though a variety of methods.
  • A customer service mindset with a focus on providing exceptional support and assistance to volunteers, addressing their needs and concerns promptly and professionally.
  • An ability to identify issues, analyze problems, and develop creative solutions for volunteer engagement.
  • Proficiency in using technology and digital tools for communication, training, and data management, including Microsoft Office Suite and Customer Relationship Management software (Salesforce and Looker), as well as the ability to quickly learn new proprietary technology.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

You Will:

  • Travel throughout council jurisdiction as needed.
  • Sit at a desk and work on a computer and talk on the phone for up to 8 hours a day.
  • Manually operate office equipment.
  • Lift and carry at least 35 lbs.
  • Complete an annual background check.
