Position Description
With a high degree of autonomy, this position provides strategic support and management for policy initiatives. Manages the development, implementation, and evaluation of assigned programs and committees through effective management of the Justice Innovation Policy Team. Build relationships and collaborate with criminal justice stakeholders, internal and external, to ensure the management and compliance of assigned programs and grants. Guide and lead stakeholder groups to develop and implement justice initiatives. Manage and lead staff resources in ongoing projects to ensure metrics are tracked and programs meet required deliverables.
This position is responsible for the development and fostering of ongoing partnerships with law enforcement agencies to create and implement initiatives for improvement of justice related issues and reduction of the county jail population.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversees highly detailed research on various issues and specific interests while working with with stakeholders.
- Manages policy team in the assembly, and analysis of data on current legislative, policy, and regulatory reviews and reforms to create memos, briefs, reports, or other deliverables outlining the impact of policies on the organization.
- Leads multiple committees with emphasis and focus justice related issues, including working with community groups.
- Responsible for the day to day operation and staff development of the policy team.
- Leads development of collaboration and initiatives with various law enforcement agencies.

Requirements
Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in a directly related field from an accredited college or university.

Five (5) years of related experience.
-
At least two (2) years of demonstrated leadership experience while influencing or implementing justice related policies.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Highly skilled in written and verbal communication.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal government operations, including legislation, budget, and policy development.
- Ability to perform highly skilled research and policy analysis.
- Highly skilled in written communication and the ability communicate complex issues succinctly and professionally.
- Ability to effectively deliver and communicate information in various settings and to a diverse audience.
- Ability to apply logic and critical thinking to evaluate issues and approaches, identify strengths and weaknesses, and offer options and solutions.
- Ability to work in and facilitate cross-functional teams.
- Ability to identify and apply best practices towards County policies and programs.
