Job Summary
The Director of Programs & Community Partnerships is primarily responsible for ensuring quality programming is provided to Girl Scout members and volunteers throughout our council footprint. The Director provides leadership and management oversight to the Program team as they work to reach, serve, and support all members within the council, and works cooperatively with volunteers, businesses, civic organizations, schools, etc. to develop and provide quality programming through beneficial partnerships. This position is responsible for providing leadership in the development of innovative strategies and effective service in the implementation of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience. This position works in partnership with other operational and organizational functions to support organizational mission, goals, and strategic priorities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership to the management of the Program team. Ensures that teams comply and support the GSUSA philosophy and the council policies, procedures, standards, and business practices. Works with the Program team to ensure comprehensive, curricula-related, engaging and relevant program opportunities are provided to GSEOK members that help increase girl and adult member retention rates.
- Responsible for working with direct reports to determine yearly performance goals which align with the organization’s strategic plan, and subsequently supporting staff in achieving those goals.
- Initiates and manages a comprehensive community partnership program that effectively supports volunteers in their work, expands the Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma network within the council footprint, allows for innovative ways to meet the wants and needs of today’s girl, and improves member retention rates.
- Works cooperatively with the Membership and Volunteer Services departments to meet the programming needs of council members and provides guidance in developing innovative strategies to ensure the effective support of troop leaders.
- Works cooperatively with the Marketing and Communications Department to schedule and coordinate work plans for department marketing materials:event programs, program guides, website updates and social media.
- Ensures compliance for safety and security based on national and local council policies and American Camp Association accreditation standards for resident/day camp, events and activities, troop camping/trips, facility reservations and usage, and periodic updating of associated forms.
- Ensure girl and adult safety through education and promotion of safe practices and consistent interpretation of GSUSA and council policies, standards and procedures.
- Administers processes for member insurance/claims, participant incident reports and follow-through, responds to emergency phone calls from troops to determine and advise on next steps.
- Develops and manages department budget and corresponding resource allocations.
- Assists the senior leadership team to ensure compliance with council, GSUSA, federal, and state policies.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of directly related experience, including some experience in a leadership/supervisory role.
- Has facilitated department operational plans to align with organizational strategic goals.
- Experience in program development, event coordination, volunteer management, and customer service preferred.
- Must have a valid driver's license within the state of employment.

- Proficient in customer relationship management software and technology.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Planning and organizational skills with attention to details.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish effective working relationships with other staff members, visitors, volunteers and the general public via telephone, email and in person, and proven experience working cooperatively with other departments to reach organizational goals.
- Demonstrate ability to successfully manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines.
Physical and Schedule Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends; occasional overnights as necessary, and ability to travel as job requires.
