Youth Media Outreach Specialist; Grant-Funded, Full Time Grant: CAPP (Comprehensive Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention) Location: As Assigned Throughout Albany, Troy and Hudson Offices; – remote position at this time Status/Hours: Full-time, Non-Exempt (hourly)
UHPP is seeking a Youth Media Outreach Specialist who will work with Education Department staff to develop and disseminate effective digital content to impact positive sexual, reproductive, and relationship health outcomes in the NYS Capital Region; with an emphasis on teen health and education. Train and assist staff, including Youth Health Promoters, in effective digital content creation and social media practices. Oversee and train youth peer educators to plan, develop, create, edit and share social media content on multiple platforms in order to impact positive sexual health outcomes including access to community resources.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (this is not a complete list of duties; please refer to the position job description for further details about the position):
- Develop and oversee initial and ongoing trainings for teen peer educators (Youth Health Promoters) and other staff in topics including social media best practices, digital content creation skills (including social media in-app tools, Canva, Adobe CC, and others), and digital outreach and engagement skills.
- Assist Youth Health Promoters in the design and dissemination of digital media projects that address barriers to sexual health care, increase awareness and understanding of reproductive health options, and reinforce behaviors that prevent STIs and unplanned pregnancy.
- Mentor/work closely with youth staff interested in expanding their knowledge and involvement in digital media.
· Compile and report all required data and evaluations on a monthly basis, including but not limited to social media statistics, program evaluations, as well as program and participant assessments.
- Work with Youth Health Promoters, CAPP-eligible youth, and community stakeholders to develop and implement strategies for digital outreach and education
- Work with UHPP Education staff to develop effective digital content for classes, workshops, events, and other projects.
- Work with other departments within UHPP to create and disseminate digital content as needed, including assisting with podcast editing and dissemination. This includes but is not limited to: Public Affairs department, Development department, Health Centers, and subcontractors including Mission Accomplished Transition Services.
- Conduct in-person and online outreach to inform CAPP-eligible youth of program services and youth-friendly sexual health community resources.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Preferred Associate’s Degree in Graphic or Digital Media Design, Multimedia Development, Visual Communication or related area.
· Experience in social media page administration, including Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and emerging platforms.
· Experience in youth work, teen/young adult education, or a related field
· Experience in sexual/reproductive/relationship health education or a related field
· Experience and/or education in technology programs related to videography, music, podcasting, website development and social marketing, to meet program needs
· Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud products and/or Adobe Creative Suite Programming
· Ability to work on PC and Mac.
· Bilingual a plus
