As the National Bankers Association Foundation’s research intern, you will work on projects that support and highlight the minority banking sector’s impact. Through this internship, you will grow your skills in data analysis, data visualization, writing, and public policy. You’ll also have opportunities to participate in programming designed to provide educational value and build your professional network.  


LOCATION: Washington DC (in-person or remote options)

START/END: May – August 2025 (10-12 weeks, 20 hours/week)

COMPENSATION: $3,500 split across two installments


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Enrolled in a full-time graduate program – preferably public policy, economics, or similar social science discipline. No prior experience with the banking sector is required.

  • Strong coding skills in a statistical analysis program, including data cleaning, analysis, and visualization. Experience working with large datasets in a community development context preferred.

  • Experience writing up research findings for different audiences, and a willingness to revise drafts based on rounds of feedback.

  • Strong soft skills including especially collaboration, adaptability, communication, and time management.

  • Dedication to the Foundation’s broader mission of strengthening minority banks as they create economic opportunity through access to capital and credit.  


MAIN RESEARCH DELIVERABLE: Support the Research and Impact team in publishing an analysis of MDI banks[AB4] . This project will involve reading up on background materials, analyzing financial and community impact data, generating descriptive statistics and graphs, and drafting initial copy explaining findings from the analysis.
