The City of Manassas is looking for a Public Affairs Manager who will lead our efforts to connect with our diverse community through clear, impactful, and bilingual (English and Spanish) messaging.

In this role, you'll be at the forefront of shaping the City’s image, managing media relations, and crafting innovative strategies that highlight our strengths and opportunities. You'll oversee a talented digital team, coordinate emergency and external communications, and ensure our residents are informed, engaged, and connected.

The hiring range for this position is: $100,942.40 - $138,798.40, DOQ.

What You'll Do:

Lead citywide communication strategies that reach and engage all residents.

Build strong relationships with the media, ensuring accurate and timely information is shared in both English and Spanish.

Innovate our digital presence, ensuring our website and social media platforms are accessible to all.

Oversee the creation of press releases, marketing materials, and public information campaigns, ensuring bilingual content at every step.

Minimum Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.

5+ years of progressively responsible experience in media relations or public communication.

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position may be considered.

Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus!

Special Requirements:Must have valid Virginia Driver's license.
