Summary
Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Enterprise Services, Immediate Office of the Executive Assistant Commissioner, located in Washington, DC.
Duties
Joining U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP), Enterprise Services, Immediate Office of the Executive Assistant Commissioner (EAC), will allow you to utilize your expertise advising the Executive Assistant Commissioner and Deputy Executive Assistant Commissioner on a variety of policy issues of interest from Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Custom and Border Protection Agency officials, as well as other Federal, state, local, and tribal agencies. This position starts at a salary of $167,603.00 (GS-15, Step 1) to $195,200.00 (GS-15, Step 10). In this Chief of Staff position you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals involved in directing a program, critical program segment, or key high level organizations for which both the scope and impact of the program or organization directly are nationwide, agency wide, industry wide, and/or government wide; directing the work of complex organizational administrative programs responsible for the regulatory, administrative, policy development, training, budget, manpower, and logistical/technical support; and shaping and improving the structure, effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of major portions of the Agency-wide operations and projects of national interest.
Typical Work assignments include:
Participating fully with the EAC, DEAC, and other CBP officials in the review and appraisal of major policy issues that have major implications for CBP's stance on a variety of germane issues, including those with potential impact on one or more aspects of the National security and economy.
Furnishing the EAC and DEAC with recommendations for action, including fully documented conclusions, which the EAC and DEAC may accept, modify, or reject. Incumbent is expected to work diligently with other principal CBP officials to ensure the EAC is provided with authoritative and current information for use in making policy decisions.
Coordinating the review/analysis of all policy proposals of direct interest to the EAC or DEAC and conducting/evaluating a wide range of studies and reports. Such assignments are generally of confidential and sensitive nature.
Supervising/directing subordinate division chiefs in the establishment of goals and objectives, work planning and organization, work assignments, and personnel management responsibilities. Directs the immediate staff within the EAC or DEAC office and supervises the development, implementation, and execution of administrative processes and procedures.
