Minimum Qualifications A self-determined leader with a demonstrated interest and commitment to service and civicengagement with a bachelor’s degree and at least 6 years of experience working with a civic engagement or community-based organization, government office or government adjacent role.The ideal candidate is a team player and self-starter who is passionate, has exceptional management skills, and a proven ability to turn concepts and ideas into actionable plans.

Duties Description The New York State Lieutenant Governor’s Office is seeking an experienced leader with deep knowledge of civic engagement programs in New York and communications experience to serve as the Senior Advisor for Civic Engagement and Communications in the new Office of Service and Civic Engagement (OSCE).Under supervision of the Chief Service Officer, the Senior Advisor for Civic Engagement and Communications responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Create a comprehensive strategy for increasing civic participation and volunteerism in New York.Partner with external organizations and government agencies to strengthen civic engagement services for New Yorkers.Leverage social media and traditional media outlets to highlight achievements in service and civic engagement throughout New York State.Plan and lead special events designed to promote service and civic engagement in communities throughout New York in order to reach and influence key audiences to secure resources to support the office and its effortsManages day-to-day press strategy for the OSCE, including coordinating and reviewing press releases, statements, developing and implementing weekly and long-term strategic communications plans, and other materialsBrief and prepare the Chief Service Officer for interviews and public appearances as necessaryWorks directly with administration agencies, authorities, and local governments across the state on communications and messaging strategy to further the OSCE’s initiatives and goalsWorks collaboratively with the Chief Service Officer to set goals and objectives that advance OSCE’s mission to empower and unite New Yorkers by fostering a culture of service and civic engagement, addressing critical community needs, and building a stronger, more resilient state.Identifies issues of importance to constituent groups, updates the Lt. Governor and Chief Service Officer on these issues and creates opportunities for meaningful engagement.Represent the OSCE at events and meetings as neededBe able to multitask and prioritize deliverables while being mindful of time-critical deadlinesPerform other related assignments and special projects as needed.Must be willing to travel as needed
