The Team You’ll Work With
CAU is the fundamental connection between City Hall and New York City residents throughout the five
boroughs. The primary mission of CAU is to establish deep partnerships with communities in order to
engage and mobilize New Yorkers. To this end, CAU is directly responsible for integrating government
into communities by working with Mayoral agencies to ensure the effective and efficient deployment
of government services and the Mayor’s top policy priorities and initiatives.
The Problems You’ll Solve
The Mayor’s Community Affairs Unit First Deputy Commissioner will be the lead manager of the office
under the Commissioner. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Support the needs of the Commissioner.
- Represent the office in the Commissioner’s absence.
- Manage senior team leaders within CAU.
- Being accessible as needed to ensure responsiveness to senior leadership.
- Represent the office on prep calls with senior City Hall staff.
- Organize and represent the office with the front office and external partners.
- Troubleshoot initiatives with CAU staff.
- Ensure that critical timelines are met within CAU.
- As a member of the CAU senior staff, lead team-building and morale-boosting efforts.
About You
- You have a Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college or equivalent job experience.
- You will have to be accessible as needed.
- You have excellent written communication skills, including the ability to distill, prepare, and
communicate complex information for a variety of audiences.
- You have the ability to assess challenges and identify effective solutions critically.
- You are well organized with strong attention to detail.
- You have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a range of stakeholders across
the administration.
- You have the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- You have strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Salary
The City of New York Office of the Mayor’s compensation package includes a market competitive
salary, equity for all full-time roles and exceptional benefits. Our cash compensation range for this role
is $190,000 to $200,000.
Final offers may vary from the amount listed based on candidate experience and expertise, and other
factors.
