The National MLTSS Health Plan Association is seeking a policy director with interest and a background in Medicaid managed care, state Medicaid policy and program design, integrated care programs for dually eligible individuals, and/or LTSS.

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Policy Director to join our team. The Policy Director will report to the CEO and play a critical role in shaping and implementing our organization's policy agenda, advocating for MLTSS at the state and federal levels, and driving positive change in the healthcare landscape. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Medicaid, Medicare, long-term care, integrated care and managed care policy, as well as strong communication and advocacy skills.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1.    Policy Development: Lead the development of our organization's policy priorities and positions on key issues related to MLTSS, Medicaid, long-term care, and managed care.

2.    Advocacy: Advocate for our members' interests with policymakers, government agencies, and other stakeholders at the state and federal levels. This includes developing and executing advocacy strategies, building relationships with policymakers, and representing our organization in relevant forums and coalitions.

3.    Research and Analysis: Conduct research and analysis on emerging policy issues, legislative and regulatory proposals, and industry trends affecting MLTSS health plans. Provide timely analysis and recommendations to inform our organization's advocacy efforts and strategic decision-making.

4.    Collaboration: Collaborate closely with internal teams, including government affairs, communications, and member engagement, to ensure alignment and integration of policy priorities and advocacy initiatives across the organization.

5.    Education and Outreach: Develop educational materials, presentations, and resources to help our members understand and navigate complex policy issues. Conduct outreach and engagement efforts to build awareness and support for our organization's policy priorities among stakeholders, including policymakers, advocates, and the public.


Qualifications

·     Bachelor's degree in public policy, health policy, public administration, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

·     Minimum of three years of experience in health policy, with a focus on Medicaid, long-term care, and/or managed care issues.

·     Strong understanding of the political and policy landscape related to healthcare, particularly Medicaid and managed care, at the state and federal levels.

·     Demonstrated experience in policy analysis, advocacy, and/or government relations, preferably in a healthcare or association setting.

·     Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex policy issues to diverse audiences.

·     Proven ability to build relationships, work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, and drive results.

·     The ability to work collaboratively in a team and be comfortable in a small office setting.
