Status: Full-Time (Benefits Eligible)

Salary: $71,500-$79,500

Location: Atlanta, GA, Hybrid

 

ABOUT THE AAAF

The Asian American Advocacy Fund (AAAF) seeks an experienced individual to join our team as Direct Voter Contact (DVC) Manager. Our mission is to amplify the collective power of Georgia’s Asian American communities’ through community organizing, storytelling, electoral organizing, and policy advocacy. JOB SUMMARY

The DVC Manager, reporting directly to our Deputy Director, will maintain the organization’s year-round DVC Program. This includes the execution of our door and phone programs, including managing relevant temporary staff and vendors. 


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Strategy and Execution (50%) 

  • Develops and supports in the execution of strategy for DVC programs with support from other staff and affiliated partners 
  • Utilizes organizational values and priorities to pursue DVC strategies; holds independent discretion to make decisions regarding DVC programs 
  • Supports the development of scripts, survey questions, and outreach materials for doors and phone programs and solicits support from other team members as needed 
  • Coordinates and leads cross-team data discussions, managing discussions about voter and volunteer universes 
  • Creates opportunities for collaboration and implementation of comprehensive, multifaceted organizing plans contained within the organization’s integrated advocacy 
  • Identifies and offers solutions for gaps in campaign and data tools, resources, and research
  • Works in collaboration with team to create a strategic structure for training, educating, and mobilizing volunteer leaders and activists for electoral campaign activities 
  • Develops procedures and processes for ensuring the safety and security of canvassers and volunteers and serves as an on-call point of contact for DVC events 

 

Hiring, Staff Management, and Organizational Leadership (50%) 

  • Manages a team of two full-time DVC staff and several part-time DVC staff 
  • Manages weekly meetings, debriefs, and is actively involved in problem solving as opportunities come 
  • Understands intentional relationship building, including conducting one-on-one meetings and cultivating sustainable organizing relationships 
  • Supports the development of DVC plans and guides DVC team members to turn goals and strategies into tactics, timelines, and metrics 
  • Manages the DVC program in a way where growth is sustainable and healthy to scale up and scale back depending on electoral season, while also continuously identifying strengths and opportunities to improve the program continuously 
  • Coordinates with the Human Resources team to recruit and hire canvassing and phone staff for electoral campaigns 
  • Supports recruitment efforts for volunteer, membership, and advocacy opportunities
  • Helps support the Organizing and Communications teams with relevant political analysis and information 
  • Provides administrative support for organization-wide projects and events 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate for this position is a dynamic and results-driven individual who is passionate about electoral organizing and community outreach, with a demonstrated commitment to advancing social justice causes. In addition, this candidate should have exceptional interpersonal skills, including an ability to navigate and resolve conflict in a manner that values and respects relationships with colleagues inside and outside of the AAAF. 

 

Must Haves: 

  • Three to five years of experience managing DVC programs, with at least two years of staff management experience 
  • Experience drafting and executing an extensive Direct Voter Contact campaign
  • Strong analytical skills with emphasis on quality control 
  • Familiarity with voter files and organizing tools, such as VAN, EveryAction, Phone and Text Tools, and publicly available demographic data such as SOS and Census data 
  • Willingness and ability to speak in public and to facilitate meetings and trainings
  • Willingness to travel around Georgia and work overtime or irregular hours, including some weekends. 
  • Embraces the values and goals of AAAF's mission and vision 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow 
  • Strong interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and coalitions
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm 

 

Nice to Haves: 

  • Familiarity with Google Workspace (Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Chat, etc.)
  • Ability to speak an Asian language 
  • Understanding of the Georgia political landscape and/or ties to the state 

 

POSITION SUMMARY

Salary: $71,500 to $79,500, dependent on experience.


Location & Travel: Atlanta, GA region. This position qualifies as a hybrid role, meaning that the staff person may work remotely but will need to reside in the State of Georgia and be in-person regularly for in-person meetings, training sessions, program launches, and AAAF-related meetings and retreats.
