Job Description
Congresswoman Luz Rivas (CA-29) is seeking a detail-oriented, self-starter, and creative Legislative Assistant based in our Washington D.C. in a full-time capacity.
The position is responsible for managing a legislative portfolio that would include agriculture, education, foreign affairs, armed services, veterans, small business, tax, trade, telecom, arts/culture/religion, and postal issues. The role will draft memos, letters and legislation within their portfolio; research issues; maintain and create positive relationships with constituents and stakeholders; track legislative issues within their portfolio; assist district staff on policy matters; and other assignments as assigned by the Legislative Director.
Ideal candidates will be self-starters, strong writers, team-players, and can juggle multiple priorities at once. Candidates should possess sound policy analysis and understand the legislative process, coalition building, and the ability to exercise discretion.
The position will be supervised by the Legislative Director and work closely with the legislative team. Previous Capitol Hill experience and/or California ties are a plus. Diverse and bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
