Position Summary
JetBlue is looking for a communications Manager with a consumer/marketing communications background to support public relations for JetBlue and its mission to inspire humanity. The Manager will play a leading role in developing and executing integrated communications programs that support JetBlue’s brand and reputation. Based in the Corporate Communications team, the Manager will work closely on general airline announcements and new route launches, and lead communications, planning, and PR outreach around all new Blue Cities including Latin America & Caribbean regions. The position will be based in Long Island City, NY (LSC).
Applicant must be fluent in English and Spanish.
Essential Responsibilities
Build strategic, integrated communications plans that apply creative tactics that use a variety of communication channels, including media relations, digital and social, internal communications, and video
Develop and edit materials such as communications plans, fact sheets, news and online media materials, bylined articles and presentations in both English and Spanish
Lead inaugural announcements and events for JetBlue in the US, as well as Latin America & Caribbean regions
Lead media trip requests in market
Key partner to tourism boards, business partners, and airports
Develop communications strategy that elevates JetBlue as a leading company, within the industry and beyond
Create strategy for new BlueCity events that gain high level media interest
Counsel and advise JetBlue English and Spanish speaking leaders on communications approaches
Identify executive visibility and speaking opportunities for JetBlue leaders
Maintain and develop strong traditional and online media relationships
Pitch story ideas, staff interviews, and shape stories with relevant media
Track relevant industry news and trends to identify opportunities
Prepare spokespeople for media interviews and speaking opportunities
Manage projects to completion, including coordinating across internal functions
Collaborate with brand marketing, social media, and social media customer support teams to ensure integrated storytelling to get the most from communications efforts
Jump in to support reactive communications needs, including airline crisis and issues events, as needed

Minimum Experience and Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or relevant area of study
Five (5) years of communications experience
Bilingual Spanish skills (full proficiency in casual, professional or technical subjects)
Able to successfully demonstrate writing abilities through the completion of a Bilingual English and Spanish work sample during the hiring process
Previous project management experience
Strong team orientation and interpersonal skills; collaborative approach across functions and teams
Motivated self-starter, demonstrates attention to detail within a fast-paced environment
Experience engaging in social networks, digital media, online forums and/or blogging
Available for occasional overnight travel (30%)
In possession of valid travel documents and the ability to travel in and out of the United States
Comfort in working directly with Senior Leadership and functional teams
Ability to work flexible hours and be available for emergency response on short notice
Must be available occasionally for unplanned events, including incident and crisis response
Ability to create PowerPoint presentations and plans, and general use of Microsoft Office suite
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Able to meet multiple and/or tight deadlines
Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills
Pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
Legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
Seven (7) years of communications experience
Experience working in a public relations or communications agency
History of supporting well-known brands
Travel and tourism, airline, or aviation experience
Crewmember Expectations:
Regular attendance and punctuality
Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
Well-groomed and able to maintain a professional appearance
When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
Must be an appropriate organizational fit for the JetBlue culture, that is, exhibit the JetBlue values of Safety, Caring, Integrity, Passion and Fun
Must fulfill safety accountabilities as prescribed by JetBlue’s Safety Management System
Promote JetBlue’s #1 value of safety as a Safety Ambassador, supporting JetBlue’s Safety Management System (SMS) components, Safety Policy and behavioral standards
Identify safety and/or security concerns, issues, incidents or hazards that should be reported and report them whenever possible and by any means necessary including JetBlue’s confidential reporting systems (Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) or Safety Action Report(SAR))
Responsible for adhering to all applicable laws, regulations (FAA, OSHA, DOT, etc.) and Company policies, procedures and risk controls
Uphold JetBlue’s safety performance metric goals and understand how they relate to their duties and responsibilities
