Position Overview and Key Responsibilities:

The Communications Coordinator will be integral to advancing the organization's communications strategies, focusing on enhancing branding, media presence, and outreach efforts. As a member of the Communications team, this role involves supporting digital communications, publications, and storytelling initiatives. The Coordinator will assist in preparing communications materials, managing production and editorial calendars, and writing and editing content for various platforms. They will handle internal communications, coordinate monthly reports, and contribute to digital and social media content. Additionally, the role supports the annual Health Action Conference by contributing to a comprehensive communications plan. The ideal candidate is passionate about health care and social justice and stays informed on industry trends to help refine communication strategies.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for this position will have an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, or a related field, along with 1-2 years of professional experience. Prior experience interning or working on Capitol Hill is a plus. The role is suited for someone eager to learn and grow, with a passion for social justice and a desire to bring fresh, innovative ideas to the team. The candidate should possess a foundational knowledge of digital and earned media practices and trends, as well as a general understanding of how to create and execute communication strategies that align with organizational goals. Proficiency in Associated Press style is also required. Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills are essential, along with excellent time management, project management, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. The role demands sound judgment and the ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite is necessary. The successful candidate will have the ability to clearly communicate ideas, interact across various organizational levels, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. A proactive, motivated, and solutions-focused attitude is key to contributing positively to the team's effectiveness and productivity.
