JOB DESCRIPTION
Senior Individual Giving Associate
Location: New York, NY
Job Title: Senior Individual Giving Associate
Reports To: Chief Development Officer
New York Common Pantry (NYCP) is one of the city's largest food pantries, providing food assistance, case management services, senior food provision, nutrition education, and hygiene services. We are a dynamic, mission-driven organization experiencing rapid growth and expansion.
NYCP is a poverty-fighting organization that reduces hunger and promotes dignity, health, and self-sufficiency by using a holistic approach to reach over 122,000 distinct people -- over 729,000 visitors each year. Last year, we served over 11 million meals. Through an array of programs that we offer, we look to establish long-term stability for those we serve.
We are looking for a Senior Individual Giving Associate to join our Development team. Under the guidance of the Chief Development Officer, this role will significantly contribute to the Individual Giving (IG) team's efforts. The Senior Individual Giving Associate will manage a donor portfolio, oversee all related administrative tasks, and represent the Development team at designated events.
This is a full-time, exempt position offering the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement, designed to blend in-office collaboration with the convenience of remote work.
Responsibilities:
- Actively cultivate and deepen relationships with a portfolio of at least 100 mid-level donors, aiming to grow this number by strategically engaging with and personally stewarding current and potential donors. Use data-driven strategies to identify and qualify new donors to continuously enlarge the individual giving portfolio.
- Support the production of compelling fundraising and stewardship materials for both print and digital platforms. Enhance engagement with supporters, monthly donors, new donors, and prospects by crafting persuasive solicitation letters, special appeal communications, and other essential correspondence that aligns with organizational goals and donor expectations.
- Conduct in-depth research on current and prospective donors to maintain a dynamic and strategic prospect pipeline. Prepare comprehensive briefing documents, draft tailored letters, and develop proposals to support effective cultivation efforts.
- Select donors for special appeals related to program opportunities or event attendance, efficiently managing the mail merge process for solicitation efforts.
- Manage all administrative aspects of Executive Committee and Board Meetings, ensuring the preparation and distribution of essential documents such as notices, agendas, and minutes for seamless operation and governance.
- In collaboration with the Chief Development Officer, conceptualize and implement a comprehensive engagement and stewardship plan for the general-level donor portfolio to enrich donor experiences and maximize contributions.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of donor records in collaboration with the Individual Giving Associate and the Database and Systems Coordinator. This includes facilitating effective reporting on fundraising activities and revenue projections.
- Demonstrate flexibility by taking on additional tasks as needed, adopting a strategic approach to support NYCP's mission and boost its fundraising efforts.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree is required.
- A minimum of three (3) years of development experience is required, with the potential and aspirations to build a career within the field.
- Commitment to helping communities in need and NYCP’s work and mission.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with an eye for detail and an articulate telephone manner.
- Excellent organizational skills, including prioritizing deadlines and coordinating hybrid work schedules based on departmental needs.
- Accomplished interpersonal skills with the diplomacy and poise required to deal with board members, volunteers, and major and high-profile donors.
- Effective team player and demonstrates a collaborative approach when working with colleagues.
- Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, with previous Raiser’s Edge experience a plus.
