Description

The purpose of the government affairs internship position is to develop college students that are pursuing a bachelor's degree in business, government relations, or law students who want to pursue a career in energy. Interns may be exposed to a variety of projects and activities that occur within the utility business. Interns will have the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills learned in college and demonstrate abilities in the workplace. The position is temporary, nonexempt, and part-time.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions)

Duties may include covering Congressional hearings and markups on various energy and environmental matters; writing reports for C-level executives; assisting the government affairs, regulatory and legal staff with researching and preparing materials for the company’s political action committees; researching current trends across the industry and country; and other special projects as determined by the government affairs, regulatory and legal staff.

Qualifications

Must be a college student, sophomore or higher standing, currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in business, government relations or a related field.

Microsoft Office skills are mandatory for the position.

Effective project management skills.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.

Employment is contingent upon passing a post-offer background check and drug screen.

Must be able to work 8-12 hours per week starting January, 2021. The preferred location is Washington DC; however remote working locations may be considered.
