Summary
This position is located in the Bureau of Legislative Affairs, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary, Congressional Travel Office (H/PDAS/CTO). The Bureau of Legislative Affairs serves as a liaison between the Department of State and the Congress and is responsible for advancing the President’s and the Department’s legislative agenda in the area of foreign policy and/or strategy.
Duties
Creates and manages a portfolio for Congressional travel, which is widely recognized for generating issues that are sensitive, multi faceted, and particularly complex.
Works very closely with the Foreign Affairs Community, coordinating with the U.S. Agency for International Development, Members of Congress and staff of the House and Senate Appropriations Committees, CIA, to conduct oversight of funds and trips.
Applies mastery knowledge of foreign affairs and international relations, which includes itineraries, reports, and/or other work that cover a variety of complex issues: geopolitical stability, border security, economic, trade status, political, etc.
Independently coordinates and manages all aspects of complex Congressional Delegations (CODELS) and Staff Delegations (STAFFDELS).
Conducts travel presentations before new Department staff, Capitol Hill staff, and Department of Defense military escorts.
