Job Description
GEICO’s Government and Regulatory Affairs team is looking for a Coordinator to assist in executing its public policy, legislative and regulatory agenda. This position will be responsible for developing and managing project plans, conducting research, tracking and organizing strategic issues and providing general support to the Government and Regulatory Affairs team on insurance regulatory matters. This position will support representation of the company on legislative and regulatory affairs matters before policymakers at the state and federal government levels. This position will report directly to the Head of Government and Regulatory Affairs. The ideal candidate is an analytical thinker, proactive, thorough, organized, adaptable and has a basic understanding of legislative and/or regulatory processes or insurance regulation.
Essential Functions:

Conduct research and draft reports, presentations and correspondence.

Manage strategic projects for the team.

Support compliance for regulatory and political tracking and reporting.

Coordinate across GEICO Legal department to enhance cross-department alignment and collaboration on policy and regulatory developments and issues.

Research, track, and analyze legislative and policy activity relevant to company issue areas.

Assist in relationship building and issue management with governments, trade associations, industry coalitions, public services and other authorities

Assist in day-to-day needs of Government and Regulatory Affairs team.
Required Experience and Education

Bachelor’s degree.

Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience. Experience working in insurance industry or in a legislature or agency a plus.

Strong skills in Microsoft Office products (e.g., Outlook, WORD, Excel, PowerPoint) and aptitude to master others.

Established track record of initiative, flexibility, and accountability.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrated aptitude for problem solving and analysis.

Attention to detail and ability to take substantial responsibility for thorough and accurate completion of long-term and short-term projects.

Possesses strong organizational/coordinating skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
Location: This position is a Hybrid role and will require 2-3 days working onsite in our Chevy Chase, MD office.
