SR. GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS MANAGER
Serve as lead for SpaceX Government Relations efforts, including developing near- and long-term legislative strategy based on operational needs. The position requires the energy, initiative and dependability to produce results that reflect SpaceX’s commitment to the rapid and reliable advancement of human spaceflight.
Responsibilities
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Sr. Government Affairs Manager: $150,000.00 - $205,000.00/per year
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You will also receive access to comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks. You may also accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays per year. Exempt employees are eligible for 5 days of sick leave per year.

SR. GOVERNMENT AFFAIRS MANAGER

Responsibilities
- Develop legislative and state government strategic engagement strategy in support of production, launch, test, and regulatory teams
- Lead team of state consultants to draft, advocate, and secure passage of SpaceX legislative agenda
- Serve as SpaceX’s external point of contact for multiple agencies
- Develop, maintain, and build upon a network of relationships with Federal and State government officials, lawmakers, and regulatory decision-makers
- Oversee and manage consultants and third parties engaged in SpaceX government relations
- Develop specific issue-area expertise for SpaceX-related matters associated with launch vehicle production, test, and launch operations
- Identify, manage, and capture state funding opportunities for spaceport-related infrastructure
- Shape SpaceX strategic legislative strategies, tactics, and policy development
- Draft legislative language, attend hearings, draft hearing testimony, and develop policy positions
- Prepare presentations for key audiences for SpaceX leadership
- Perform research as needed, develop policy and collateral materials
- Support overall government affairs activities for SpaceX as needed
- Bachelor’s degree
- 10+ years of professional experience working on legislative matters in the private sector or a government organization
- Advanced degree (MA, JD, PhD) in science, policy, political science, international affairs, or other relevant field
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Experience working on issues directly related to environmental regulatory agencies or legislative committees/bodies; and political organizations
- Knowledge of launch vehicles, satellites, and space technology and policy matters
- Direct experience in achieving definitive legislative outcomes
- Passion for SpaceX's mission and goals
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems
- Demonstrated ability to forge coalitions and partnerships
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Must be willing to travel (up to 50%)
- Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends, as needed
- Must be willing to attend political and industry events on behalf of SpaceX

- To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C.
- 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C.
