We are seeking candidates for the position of Deputy Chief Communications Officer (7357) - Strategy in the Comm/Communications.

Salary Range: Min: $142,116.00 - Mid: $177,658.00 - Max: $213,200.00


OVERALL DESCRIPTION

The Deputy Chief Communications Officer – Comms Strategy, Internal Communications, and Creative Services will report directly to the Chief Communications Officer. She/he/they will collaborate with all divisions to ensure communications for their initiatives is synergistic across communications disciplines and consistently supports the core values and mission of SEPTA. The DCCO – Comms Strategy, Internal Comms, Creative Services will inform the Agency’s communications strategy, oversee internal communications including development and production, and oversee production of external facing initiatives that are not deemed external Advertising Agency deliverables.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategizes and problem solves with a strong ability to think outside the box while simultaneously building, managing, and executing communications projects.

  • Develops rich and creative content that can be optimized for internal video and audio engagement, media attention, or social media interaction.

  • Oversees the Graphics and Print Services Department

  • Partners with IT in the development and use of Comms Technology – screens, tablets, video assets, broadcast production, photo coverage.

  • Oversees team that produces employee Comms, including but not limited to:

    • GM/CEO Employee Town Hall Meetings.

    • The company-wide E-Newsletter. – “In the Loop”

  • Creates or oversees department or divisional ideas that can be executed and shared across all communication channels.

  • Collaborates closely with other Comms Division Departments - Media Relations, Marketing, Information Design, Customer Service, Research & Analytics, and digital properties like SEPTA.org – as well a Government Affairs and outside stakeholders to ensure messages are bridged effectively.

  • Implements creative strategic communication to advance the company’s mission and core values and divisional objective.

  • Enhances the perception of the Agency’s image and brand.

  • Inspires the team for which he/she/they is responsible and assumes accountability for their development.

  • Readily exchanges knowledge with Comms peers at other Transportation Agencies to ensure use of best practices

  • Complies with all Authority and departmental safety and security policies and procedures as well as all applicable job safety responsibilities. Reports any safety concerns, compromises or hazards affecting operations, the public self and/or other employees. Responsible for personal safety and is encouraged to promote the safety of others.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field and a minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible work experience in Communications with at least five (5) years of this experience managing professional staff required
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with varied audiences.
  • Highly prefer 15+ years of experience preferred.
  • Experience working with print, broadcast, and digital media preferred.
  • Experience working with business and labor leadership preferred.
