DEI Director
Wilmington, DE
People – Employee Experience /
The DEI Director will focus on creating and executing a comprehensive strategy to attract and support diverse talent to further the campaign’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. They will also be responsible for upskilling and further educating campaign staff around DEI. The focus is strategic and programmatic in nature and experience in the DEI space is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- DEI strategy and programming
- Develop and own the campaign’s DEI strategy and execution of key DEI initiatives
- Manage and report on the campaign’s diversity efforts, leveraging best in class tools including developing an internal dashboard to support data analysis and reporting
- Forge relationships w/ external DEI partners including the DNC and other key organizations
- Manage internal programming to support existing diverse campaign staff
- Partner cross-functionally on external campaign messaging
- Hiring and support of diverse employees
- Develop and iterate on campaign’s DEI hiring plan and approach
- Review hiring practices and outcomes to ensure diverse talent is represented and successful in candidacy at all levels of the campaign, including consultation with hiring managers, where appropriate
- Leverage existing professional network to support overall hiring efforts
- Partnering with colleagues on People team for specific Employee Relations cases, where appropriate
- Learning and development
- Create and implement DEI-focused workshops for management and other staffers in service of educating and upskilling campaign staff on the DEI space and specific initiatives
- Identify opportunities for learning and development of the campaign’s diverse workforce to support career pathing during and after campaign
- Provide coaching to leaders, managers, and employees on DEI best practices
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Extensive experience in the DEI space
- Progressive experience in Human Resources, Employee Experience, and/or Campaign Operations
- Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with others, seeking out and building positive working relationships both inside the People team and cross-functionally
- Strong program management and proactive problem solving skills
- Proficiency in HR software, data interpretation, and reporting
Additional Useful Skills & Qualifications
- Experience volunteering or working on a political campaign’s Human Resources or Operations team
- Capacity to support highly confidential data and personal information
$95,000 - $120,000 a year
